Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 September 2026
The Director has no accounts. You never give us a name, an email address or a password, and there is nothing in the app to log in to. What we hold is a random identifier your phone generated, the reels you made with it, and the counters that make a subscription work.
1. Who we are
The Director is published by Jazz Games ("we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@jazzgames.net, or through the contact screen inside the app.
2. What we collect
A device identifier
On first launch the app generates a random UUID and stores it in the iOS keychain. It is not your advertising identifier, it is not derived from your hardware, and it identifies an installation rather than a person. Everything else we hold is filed under it. Deleting the app and reinstalling produces a new one, and the old install's data becomes unreachable.
What you write, and what comes back
The sentences you write to describe a shot are sent to our servers and on to our video provider so the clip can be rendered. The finished clips are stored on our own storage so they keep working after the provider's temporary links expire. When you extend a film, the app extracts the last frame of the previous clip on your device and uploads that single still, because the next clip is generated from it.
Purchases
We never see your payment details. Apple takes the payment; RevenueCat tells our server that a purchase happened, for which product, and when it expires, so that credits can be added to your balance and your subscription can be recognised on the next launch.
Usage events and diagnostics
We record events such as "app opened", "paywall shown", "shot ordered" and "shot finished", along with your app version, platform, and a two-letter country derived from the IP address of the request. The IP address itself is not stored. Crash reports are collected through Firebase Crashlytics.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, phone number or postal address.
- Your photo library. The app does not read your photos or your camera.
- Your contacts, calendar, microphone, or precise location.
- Payment card details, at any point, in any form.
3. Why we are allowed to hold it
| Data | Purpose | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Device identifier | Attach your reels and your credit balance to your installation | Performance of the contract |
| Prompts and clips | Produce and store what you asked for | Performance of the contract |
| Purchase state | Grant credits, recognise a subscription, honour restores | Performance of the contract |
| Usage events | Understand which parts of the app work | Legitimate interests |
| Advertising identifier | Measure which campaigns bring people here | Consent (the iOS tracking prompt) |
4. Tracking, and the prompt you saw
If you allowed tracking at the iOS prompt, a limited set of events is shared with Meta for advertising measurement, along with your device's advertising identifier. If you asked the app not to track — or never answered — that sharing does not happen, and the app continues to work identically. You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
5. Who processes it for us
| Processor | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Database, cloud functions, analytics, crash reports, push notifications |
| fal.ai | Video generation. Receives your prompt and, for an extension, the seed frame |
| Cloudflare R2 | Storage for finished clips and seed frames |
| RevenueCat | Subscription and purchase state |
| Apple | Payment, and the App Store relationship |
| Meta | Advertising measurement — only if you allowed tracking |
These providers process data in the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves your region it is transferred under the providers' own standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- Reels and clips — until you delete them or delete your data.
- Usage events — 14 months, then deleted.
- Purchase and credit records — kept for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, and not removed by a data deletion request. This is the one exception below, and it exists so that a deletion cannot be used to reclaim credits that were already spent.
7. Deleting your data
Settings → Delete my data removes every reel, every clip, every seed frame and every usage event associated with your installation. It is immediate and it cannot be undone. Your credit balance and the ledger of what was bought and spent survive it, for the reason given above; an active subscription is managed by Apple and is unaffected — cancel it in iOS Settings if that is what you want.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your data, to object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Because we hold no identifying information, the only way we can locate your data is by the device identifier — the app's contact screen sends it along with your message, which is what lets us act on a request at all. Write to hello@jazzgames.net from inside the app and we will answer within 30 days.
9. Children
The Director is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the installation's data.
10. Generated content
Everything the app produces is generated by a model. It is not a photograph or a recording, and it is not a record of any real person, place or event. Do not treat a clip as evidence of anything, and do not present one as if it were.
11. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how your data is used, say so in the app before it takes effect.
